WHEN: Thursday, September 24th 2020
As schools and districts finalize their return-to-learn plans for the 2020-2021 school year, educators throughout the country are left wondering how they’ll possibly manage this “new normal.” In addition to trauma induced by the global battle against COVID-19, students and educators are being asked to help heal their communities from intense political divides that may deepen as we approach and respond to November’s presidential election.
We don’t know what else 2020 is going to throw our way, but we do know that Iowa’s educators are being tasked with providing effective learning environments (virtual or otherwise) in the midst of unprecedented chaos.
Iowa Safe Schools’ 2020 Transforming Trauma Summit is here to support educators in this journey. This summit will provide youth-serving professionals with resources to help them successfully navigate the barriers of this school year, as well as find balance in their daily lives by prioritizing care and compassion for themselves. Educators are essential. Healing is crucial. Iowa Safe Schools is proud to support and stand in solidarity with teachers, administrators, and all youth-serving professionals as they move boldly forward.
