Carmen Carrera

Carmen Carrera is a reality television personality, model and actress known for appearing on the third season of RuPaul’s Drag Race, as well as it’s spin-off series RuPaul’s Drag U.

As a Trans woman and activist, Carrera has been a prominent voice in AIDS awareness, and has spoken out against transphobic language on television and in media.

In 2014, Carrera was also included as part of the Advocate’s annual “40 under 40” list, and gained nearly 50,000  signatures from a petition campaigning her to become the first transgender Victoria’s Secret model. The petition sparked headlines as well as an appearance on Katie Couric, where she and Laverne Cox instructed the talk show host on how to have a respectful conversation with transgender women.
