Pride Camp!May 30th, 2018
IOWA (May 30th, 2018)- On June 12th-14th, Iowa Safe Schools will host the state’s first ever LGBTQ summer camp: Pride Camp. Pride Camp Director, Becky Smith, who is available for interviews, released the following statement.
“We are very excited to host the first LGBTQ youth camp in Iowa. Pride Camp will offer students the opportunity to choose from three tracks, STEM, leadership, and advocacy. Statistically, these three areas are underrepresented by LGBTQ individuals. We have partnered with industry leaders from Kemin, Dwolla, Banker’s Trust and several other businesses to provide active learning opportunities for 150 campers. This is a safe space for students to learn, grow, and connect with other campers and community leaders. But, most importantly, Pride Camp is not your typical gay camp. It is an epic, life changing program for LGBTQ and allied youth.”
Pride Camp will be held at Grand View University in Des Moines on June 12th-14th. To learn more about Pride Camp or register, please visit www.pridecamp.org. For any questions regarding Pride Camp please contact Becky Smith at Becky@IowaSafeSchools.org or by calling 515-729-4471. Pride Camp is a program of Iowa Safe Schools.
