Iowans for Safe Schools

As Iowans, we want schools that are safe, inclusive places for all students.  Our instinct is to protect children from harm.  No child should be the victim of bullying, harassment, or discrimination.  All students— black, brown, white, straight, gay, Christian, Jewish, Muslim, fat, skinny, short, tall, girl, boy—deserve to learn and grow free from physical and emotional abuse.  Thus, as Iowans, we fully support policies and legislation in Iowa including the language below to protect all children in Iowa from bullying, harassment, and discrimination.

Bullying, harassment and discrimination will not be tolerated based on any real or perceived characteristic, including, but not limited to, age, color, creed, national origin, race, religion, marital status, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, physical attributes, physical or mental disability, ancestry, socioeconomic status or familial status.
