GLBT students are not safe and encounter anti-gay bullying, harassment
and discrimination daily in Iowa schools.
The work of the Iowa Safe Schools Task Force is not complete until all
GLBT students are safe. Although steps are being taken by individuals
and some education associations, statewide education and policy leaders
need to make a commitment to protecting all students, including those
that are GLBT, from bullying, harassment, and discrimination.
Thus, it is clear that there is a great need for statewide legislation
to protect all students from bullying, harassment, and discrimination.
