Trainings for Youth-Serving Agencies
Iowa Safe Schools offers workshops tailored to meet various youth-serving agency needs.  As the only organization in the state that offers a comprehensive and research-proven effective program, Iowa Safe Schools can fit your agency's specific needs. 
Conference 


Over 2,500 Iowa educators, administrators, social workers, counselors, business leaders, and others receive direct education from Iowa Safe Schools annually.  The average level of satisfaction according to evaluations done after a workshop offered by Iowa Safe Schools is 4.71 on a scale of 1 to 5 with 1 being "Poor" and 5 being "Excellent. 

Workshops offered by Iowa Safe Schools can last an hour to over three hours in length depending on what you would like accomplished. 

The following workshops topics are currently being offered:

No Place to Call Home
According to the National Center to End Homelessness; in 2008 there were 100,000 youth on the street long-term with the conservative estimate that 20% of those youth were LGBT.  This epidemic of homelessness is often a result of unsafe home environments and rejection from their communities.  This session gives shelters and other agencies the opportunity to become more aware of the needs facing LGBT homeless youth and gives best-practice policies agencies must implement to support these v
ulnerable youth. 

Safe Schools for All
All students deserve a safe and healthy place to learn and a supportive community to live in.  However, statistics continue to show that Iowa's lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) students face many barrers to their success including bullying and harassment, homelessness, and suicide risk.  This session gives a school or agency the opportunity to receive basic information on LGBT youth and offer research-based solutions to create a safe, supportive learning environments for LGBT youth.
